Hi All,

My name is Adrian and I am in Vancouver Canada. A member on another forum suggested that I come by here and sign up so that I could learn a thing or two about smokers and BBQ'n in general.

I guess you could say that I am backyard enthusiast of summer weekend griller. Living in Vancouver limits the amount of days that I want to be outside manning the grill.....hehehe. Lately I have been wanting to step my game up and really learn about cooking with a pellet smoker. At present I am using a Napolean propane grill. To be honest I almost feel like Hank Hill when Im standing outside in my apron grilling for my friend and family.

There have been a few smokers that caught my attention, Traeger Lil tex, Country smokers cs-450 and Green Mountain Daniel Boon. The size of the grill seems about right for our house hold and all three of these smokers are within price of each other.

It would be great to hear from some of the members on here pros and cons to each of these machines and the results you guys get from using them. Pictures are always great and I am also willing to come and taste test if you guys/ gals ever need me hahahaha.

Look forward to interacting with the all of you.

Kind Regards,

Adrian

Welcome , bud. Well , I can't tell you anything about pellet smokers , but my weber smoky mountain charcoal cooker has been a revelation to me! I'm sure there's folks on here who cook with pellets and they will steer you in a good direction. But overall , I think this forum is the best I've found. Tons of info and really helpful , friendly people. Anyhow , welcome and happy smoking.

Thanks for the warm welcome gents!

@hambone1950 - just curious was wood or pellets ever a consideration for you or we're you more drawn towards charcoal?

Right now anything will be an improvement from my Napoleon propane grill. I read a review online the other day that said "grilling is not BBQ" and I believe that. Low,slow and full of smoke is the way to go. Can't wait to narrow down my search and get a new pit. Right now the Country smoker cs-450 is the leader of the pack.

you know , my first smoker was given to me by a buddy and it was charcoal but it was kind of clunky , and then i started reading up on smoking and the wsm seemed compact and economical and everyone just raved about how well it cooked.

pellet smokers seemed kind of expensive and wood burners seemed like theyd take up too much room with the wood and all....i mean , i looked at all kinds of smokers , but for me the wsm just seemed like the best fit.  and i guess i am just more used to cooking with charcoal.

that smoker youre looking at looks real nice and that price aint bad....looks compact , too.
