Cold and windy here today. Found this forum years ago but never joined or visited much. Recently bought a Big Green Egg and have used it with success on a few things. Love to cook inside, outside and on the grill. Grew up poor (monetarily) eating lots of home canned vegetables & fruits but my favorites were the homemade and smoked meats...honestly I would give just about anything to have one of my Grandpa's smoked fish again. I have dabbled in smoking rabbits, game birds and fish over the years but just recently got back into this when I got the BGE. Looking forward to using this forum as there is a LOT of knowledge here...just seeing the homemade Canadian bacon pic  made me want to drag a pork loin out out of the freezer...man I have a lot to learn but it is going to be fun...my Doc is probably going to have a heart attack though!

Ah, doc might not be as non-approving as you think. Lots of ways to make healthy meals from a smoker...it's all about how you prep and how you cook it just as much as it is what you cook. I recommend you check out and join THIS group...you can read without joining, just can't post there until you join...lots of shared tips for healthy cooking and eating, as well as personal health stories and how members have coped with or overcome health issues. If a healthy diet is of concern for you, this is a good source of info to have up your sleeve...then you can trump your doc if he/she gets too sassy with you...LOL!!!
