Greetings fellow lovers of meat and smoke! I'm a newly addicted BBQ freak. I don't currently own a smoker yet, but I have aspirations of owning a horizon or yoder smoker sometime in the next 6 months. My budget will be about 1,200$. I'm also open to other options from those of you who are well versed in the world of smokers. For right now my brother in law has a 150$ char broil barrel style smoker from Walmart. This does the trick and makes some awesome food, but there's a lotta air gaps and needs to be tended often as it rips through the wood. For now, it's working out great, but I definitely want something new before summer.

My favorite piece of BBQ is a meaty slab of baby backs! Until I learn to make my own sauces and rubs well, I use blues hog original sauce, and Arthur Bryant's original rub.

I'm looking forward to learning from you experienced pit masters and picking up tips, tricks, and new recipes.

Hi Jeffacarp. Greetings from North Carolina. What part of Kansas are you in? I grew up in Hesston, and my sister still lives in Wichita.
