Doing first pork shoulder on new years day . I have an 8.5lb picnic cut pork shoulder with bone in. Any tips, suggestions, and info would be appreciated. I have already learned so much on the forums and I look forward to more tips. Thank You

JMO BBQ just did an 8# Boston Butt last night and he had a lot of questions, probably the same as you will. A butt and a shoulder will cook pretty much the same. Read through this thread I think there is a lot there that will help you and then come back here with all the rest of your questions and I'm sure we can get them answered for you so you will have some Great pork for New Years!
