I noticed that one of my barrels was thinner than the other and I had problems welding to the thinner one. So I got some flat plate and cut a 6x6 square and then cut a 4x4 hole out in it. This will serve two purposes. One, I can slide the square over the the 4x4 that will go between the barrels and then screw the plate to the thinner barrels and then weld to the thicker flat plate. Secondly if the thinner gauge barrel starts to rust out I can just unscrew it from the plates.

I have been using thin cut of wheels on my grinder to do most of my cuts. It makes a much better cut than a torch. Maybe Santa will bring me a plasma cutter next year!
I had planned on working on my smoker late tonight but I ran out of wire for my welder, oh well.
