Hi everybody. I am one of the "newbies" on this forum. I think it is going to be an awesome resource of help, encouragement and inspiration. I live in Omaha Ne, retired from banking for 42 years. Work part-time at my local Basspro Shops Store (my dream job).
Work only1 day per week now so have trained myself to do my shopping 1 day per week (ha-ha).
My 47 year old son got me into smoking 7 years ago. He bought his Weber Smokie Mountain smoker back then after talking to a smoking enthusiast at his office. Wow a ride we have had. Brought home my WSM smoker back then. Have been smoking, not enough, but about 2X a month. Have last week added the 22.5" WSM to my "arsenal" after much reading and debating about getting a Horizon offset smoker (at Basspro of course). Rightly or wrongly concluded it would require a little too much "manipulating". Am really excited to break-in my new cooker and get going with it. Maybe get into some competitive contests here in our area next year. Joined the Greater Omaha Barbeque Society (GOBS). Have accumulated a sizable library of smokinh and grilling books. Have kept a Smoking Journal for 7 years now I took off the Virtual Weber Bullet website. (3 pages). Some of you may have found it too.
Love Jeff's ***** smoking meat book. Wish it was "scratch and sniff".
So now I also have a Weber Genisis grill, a Smokey Mountain Series gas smoker (Landmann), and 2 Weber kettles. My wife says I don't need another smoker.
Looking forward to being with all of you guys and gals.
