I've got a yard full of chickens and I am wondering if I can smoke chickens that are too old to fry.  A full grown rooster fried is not really edible.  Does anyone know if it would smoke okay and how would you do it?

Thanks, They do great in the crock pot, but I was hoping slow cooking might work.  I'll try it tho' .  The next time one tries to attack my grand daughter I'll try smoking after applying a shovel or whatever's handy to his head.

I use the crock pot or pressure cooker.

In addition to soups & stews, any recipe that uses shredded chicken works pretty good, for example pot pie, buffalo chicken nachos, etc... use your imagination.

But no, smoking does not tenderize them.
