I'm living In Ireland and the only ready to go smoker available is a Bradley, I've looked at them and they really seem to be a great idea and look well made. I currently use a charcoal hot smoker and a DIY fridge cold smoker. Both need a lot of attention when in use and consume a lot of wood shavings which are hard to source in the right kind of woods and take up quite a bit of space for storage.

So my thinking has been that the Bradley would really make my smoking very efficient with automatic feed and a selection of flavoured woods needing very little storage space and if i purchase the cold smoker adapter i will be able to use it for hot and cold smoking. I was on the verge of buying the 4 shelf digital Bradley when i decided to to look for a few reviews. I came across plenty on Amazon and a few here also. To say there's mixed reviews would be an understatement. Some people seem to have had a terrible experience with them and others swear by them. The same problems seem to reappear time and time again with reliability, build quality and customer care.

Now i don't know what to do. There are no other makes like ye have in the US available here. I can't understand why Bradley are not addressing the problems highlighted in these reviews, if it's putting me off buying one then i'm sure i'm not alone. Am i better off struggling on with what i have, which means i really only smoke when i have loads of time, which will mean not very often. Or should i give the Bradley a go despite all the warnings in the negative reviews.

I would greatly appreciate your views.

I am very happy with my Bradley and you definitely should take negative reviews with a grain of salt.

Many object to the Bradlely because of the puck feeder situation for making smoke (reliability and high cost for the pucks) while others think it is great. For me, I got a MES to avoid the puck situation, but I understand you do not have the MES option. I say get the Bradley if that the the best electric smoker available to you and if the puck situation turns out to be a problem you can get an AMNPS for smoke generation. I would say that I like my MES not so much becasue of its particular design or construction quality, but that it works great as a temperature controlled oven in combination with an AMNPS.  Just my thoughts.

John,

I would not worry too much. Yes the pucks can be expensive and based upon the videos I have seen on the operation, they are not 100% consumed.  I suspect that if the mechanism that transports the pucks is maintained/cleaned, you should have many years of enjoyment. Nothing in this world is perfect nor will it last forever. Bradley has been around a long time and there are users who swear by them and users who swear at them. Same with other smokers.  Many folks expect absolute perfection with no quirks or learning curve.  As for electric smokers, I have included a link to EBAY UK where some are listed.  The other video is on the Bradley.  Good luck with your decision and happy smoking.

As for the pucks, I personally know lots of people who own Bradleys and have heard of zero issues with the mechanisms.

As for the puck mass being "wasted" and not burned, consider that in the initial smoldering, you are getting all of the flavor. You don't need to burn it to ash to get any more flavor. Any pipe smoker knows this. And as for cost, who cares? At 33 cents a puck, it costs a dollar an hour to run. Big deal! Any barbecue grill will cost a similar amount for fuel. I couldn't care less. It gets great smoke flavor. End of story. Now to get these oysters a-smoking...

I had the mes 30 inch electric. POS! Very poor quality. Had mine 2 months and the control panel went out. Called and they said that they have a lot of problems with that issue but the part was on back order for 6 months! Really? ? I use my smoker least once a week I can't wait 6 months id have withdraws! Luckily I managed bass pro to let me exchange for a Bradley and I LOVE IT!!!! You can definitely tell the difference in build quality

I am with everyone, My MES was a pile of junk, my ECB outlasted it and is cooking a pork shoulder as we speak.  Get the Bradley, I think you will have better luck.
