Yes Im a michigan owner of  char broiler cb600x and hope I did the right thing in getting this smoker...Price was the attraction at 100.00 I would give it a try. We have a Brinkman side chamber tryed it once and was so much work didnt use it again.  We love smoked meat and go out alot to get a good smoked pork...Love Bad Brads!!!!! all good.. There are more restaurants out there that is good, more then there had been in the past years...I would like to try this at home thought that gas was the way to go...Im almost there to open the box and put together the smoker and give it a try...Thats the only way I will  know what we have...BUT the weather here is 30+cold  and dont know if I want to try it on a cold day...If there is any info that would be helpful Im open to better ideas...  Cindy

Hey Cindy,

Sorry no one hit reply til now. I'm still having to remind myself to check the MI forum now along with the standard forum.

I love Bad Brads too and I only live about a mile north of their new location in Shelby Township. (that's dangerously close!) And your right about other places opening up lately. The Union Street Woodshop in Clarkston is well worth the drive. I recommend the chicken and Mac & cheese.

Checked out your new smoker online, it is very similar to mine. I hear ya on the labor intensity of wood smokers. I LOVE LOVE LOVE my propane smoker. In my opinion the tradoff between the convenience it provides and the results it produces is the best value by far. Did you get yours put together yet? Cook anything?

The cold is the least of your worries with propane smokers. Heat adjustment is easy to dial in. It's the wind that is our enemy!

Write back and let us know what you've done with the new smoker. I'll keep any eye out for ya!

Union St Is Very good Been there  a couple times , I would like to know what type of wood they use . I think its pecan... Verry good ribs and chicken too

Baba Bones,

I asked the Union St. bartender what wood they use and she said it was "Green" oak. I had never heard that before but I assume it would be wood that isn't fully seasoned yet, which would interesting. I'll probably research it some more.
