I just purchased Jeff's Rub recipe and am concerned about the sugar content.  I'm diabetic.  Does anyone know of good substitutes for the sugar or can it be reduced or eliminated?

You can leave out the Sugar but I would replace it with Stevia in the Raw or Spenda. This can be done with any Rub or BBQ Sauce if you have issues with Sugar...JJ

David, like ChefJimmy said you can leave out the sugar and subsitute with Stevia in the Raw or Spenda. I'm diabetic too and I'll use Splenda's Brown Sugar or Sugar in the Raw (also known as turbinado sugar). It was my Doc that first told me about turbinado sugar and wanted me to use it in place of white sugar.  Keep in mind that this was WAY before Steva hit the market.

YMMV
