OK you guys have to stop tempting me with these deals. First Gary with the $95 grinder, now this great deal on an MES. I'm sitting in a hotel bored to death and now you guys got me shopping. I'm going to have to go find something to do so i don't spend a bunch of money!

DAMN! Just bought one of these on Monday and seasoning it as I type this. It was $145 last Sunday, I waited till Monday and it had gone up to $165 when I bought it. Now its back down to $149. Sucks to me right now LOL

Dave - look at it this way - we are showing you how to save a lot of $$

I bought a MES 30 on Amazon on Oct 3 for $175. When a SMF member posted that Amazon had the same unit for $145 on Fri - Sat. My MES 30 had not shipped yet so I asked them to either adjust the price or cancel the order and I will would reorder at the reduced price. They agreed and re-billed at $145. Since Yours has already been delivered they might not be so accommodating.

But remember it's the squeaky wheel that gets the grease. Be firm, remind them how much business you have done with them. Talk to a supervisor. Save $20 and go buy a nice pork butt for your new smoker!

PS I'm also seasoning mine right now.

Amazon's posted policy:
Post-Order Price Match Policy
With the exception of TVs, we do not offer post-order price matching when an item's price drops after you buy it. Our prices regularly change, and the price you paid when your order shipped was the lowest price we were able to offer at the time. We consistently offer competitive prices on everything we carry because we know low prices are very important to our customers.
I've bought from Amazon for a looong time.  They used to post-order price match, but they stopped.  They hold a hard line on it now.

But you can give it a try, can't hurt.  Good luck.

Edit:

By the way, the Amazon price history for Masterbuilt 20070910 30-Inch Electric Smokehouse Smoker, Black

The basic shipping is free at GM, but they charge a $20 additional shipping on this item (probably due to weight and size).  The $20 off $100 or more code of GMH1008 is good today though (Just tried it).  So the Gander Mountain deal is only $4 less than the Amazon if you order it today with the coupon code due to the additional shipping at GM.

Funny that it's on sale today.  Mine seems to have just died.  It will smoke for about 30-45 minutes, but then the reading says it is 300 degrees and shuts the element off.

I'm off to search about the issue and see if there's anything on it here.

jme, evening.... Sounds like a break in the thermocouple when the temp rises ??? Dave

Hi Dave, thank you for the reply (even though I hijacked the thread :) )

I drilled out the rivets and took the back panel off, and no burned wires or anything, so your theory sounds correct.  I'll do a search here on that issue.

Thank you again,

James
