I ran into some trouble with my electric outlet when using my Analog MES 30.  Now I'm not sure just how long they were cooking before the power went out.  I've got it going again with an extension cord but is there a way to tell when to foil them based on looks, feel, temp?

Thanks!

Debbie

First off - you should not be using an extension cord with an MES unless it is a very heavy duty extension cord with a 12 gauge rating at a minimun as it could burn out the heating element.

How long were the ribs in the smoker? You are going to be able to tell if the bend at all, I would throw them in the foil and you can adjust on the back end. Not the ideal way to do it but it will work

Good luck - I hate electrical problems

It's a very heavy-duty extension cord.

The ribs were in the smoker for about 45 minutes but I think it was already off before they went in just not sure.  My son was bbq master while I ran to the store for apple juice.  When I got home the smoker was pretty much cold and the ribs didn't look like they'd even begun to cook.

I guess I'm going to start my 2-2-1 from the time I found the right extension cord and got them going again...smoker didn't get any preheat time but they're looking mighty good now with about 1/2 hour to go before foiling.

thanks for your help.

Debbie

Sounds like a good recovery plan - let us know how they come out
