Hi all,

Just found this forum this morning.  What a TON of information!!  We are in Spokane, WA.  Brand new to smoking, have done a lot of grilling in the past, but just bought a Traeger JR yesterday after talking for a few hours with an old friend that uses his ragged.

Have a lot to learn, ordered the book "Charcuterie" from Amazon per his recommendation too, should be here tomorrow.  Today we started with a pork butt for pulled pork, using apple pellets and spritzing with apple juice.  Have a couple racks of Costco pre-rubbed St. Louis Style Ribs in the fridge waiting for adventure #2.

Thanks to all for sharing so much information for newbies.  I have a lot of reading to do, really looking forward to this new hobby.  Sun is shining, pool is sparkling, smoker smells wonderful and Olympics is on ... perfect summer day.

Welcome Vic and Carly - I'm in Coeur d'Alene and have had my Traeger Jr about 3 years - I use it year round..!! finished a pork butt for pulled pork this week (9 lb butt - 6 hr on smoke and 4 hr wrapped in foil in oven) it was to-die-for.  Good luck with your new adventure. Time for wine..!!
