Well ive now done my second pork butt on the new smoker and it turned out awesome. I injected it with a honey bacon bbg marinade then rubbed it down with some plowboys yardbird rub. Then i made a baste, it was apple juice vinegar and some jb's fat boy rub all place in a blow heated up the strained into a spray bottle. After injecting and rubbing it down it got rapped up in plastic wrap and put in the fridge over night. Smoked it for 8hrs at 230 and sprayed it down with my baste i made about every hr to hr and a half. Then while that was smoken i went out to the garden got a head of cabbage and a couple carrots and made a vinegar based coleslaw. Then got some onion buns and made a garlic butter to toast them in. After the butt was done smoking it rested for about an hr, pulled it and made some of the badest ass pulled pork sandwiches ive ever had. I toasted the onion buns, used blues hog barbeque sauce on it. Then used my home made pickles i made for the cucumbers grown in my garden pulled pork then coleslaw. Very very tasty.

DAMN YOU!!   now i'm hungery!!!!!!!  I cooked a couple yesterday also, one guest sees that we are not having burgers, and makes the comment,"I'm not hungry, nothing for me" well after tasting his wifes sandwich, he got up and made him the biggest plate of them all,

this was not my first pork butt, but first at injecting one, and I only used 2parts apple jc to 1part apple cider vinegar, and my own rub,and let set overnight.

only mistake i made was not having enough time to let stand for 1 hr, but still my best yet!!!

I would have posted pics but i cant tell i get 20 posts. Ive smoke a few things since becoming a member here, but ive only been smoking foods since i think late 2009. Thats when i got my first smoker. I smoked a 15lb brisket for the 4th use 1/4 cup A1, 1/4 cup worcestershire sauce and 1/4 cup soy sauce mixed all together as a marinade to inject it with. Then made emeralds texas style brisket rub to rub it down with. Wrapped it in plastic wrap let set in fridge over night. Made a baste for it out of vegetable oil garlic powder in A1 and basted every hr. It to turned out awesome and i did get to see left overs. I also did 3 slabs of spare ribs and saint louis cut 1 of them. I smoked 2 trays of beans and grill squash and zucchini from my garden. All this was just for the party i had on the 4th of july. Right now im doing a corn beef brisket and 2 cornish hens. Ive been haven a hole lot more fun smoking meats ever since i built a new smoker. I could smoker with the old char broil just had tons of temp problems and had to baby sit it WAY TO MUCH. The new smoker being reverse flow and putting a stoker kit with wifi had made life so much easier!!!!:sausage:
