Should be as long as you have some way to vent the smoke out. Keep in mind that everything will take on the smoker scent in there too.

I had mine in our storage shed until my BF built me a separate wood cabinet for it, and the ATVs smelled like smoked pork chops for a while!

Is it safe to use your electric oven in the kitchen?

I keep mine in the garage next to an open window with a fan blowing out.  Yeah, yeah, yeah,...the instructions say:

Burning wood gives off carbon

monoxide which can cause death.

DO NOT burn wood chips inside homes,

vehicles, tents, garages or any enclosed

areas.

Use only outdoors where it is well

ventilated

Why cant we use it indoors if it is well ventilated???

If the thing was a fire trap they wouldn't have a CSA listing.

I always have the faintest smokey smell in the garage, but that's just a bonus. I really think the smell is from the smoke residue in the smoker anyway.

Barry.

It has nothing to do with fire as much as carbon monoxide produced by the fire burning the wood.

If its ventilated yes.  I set mine just inside the garage when its raining.

If in doubt get a decent carbon monoxide monitor and put it in your garage.

If your not sure you have enough ventilation just put up a carbon monoxide detector in your garage and you'll know  for sure if your getting enough ventilation. Better safe than sorry. But as others said be prepared to have  your stuff smell like smoke out there. I personally get sick of that smell but in my old house I used mine out in the garage all the time and I just crack the garage door and the back walk in door along with open the window  and I was able to keep the smell under raps.

Honestly Guys...A Gas/Propane fired 4 Burner Range and Oven gives off more Carbon Monoxide making Thanksgiving Dinner than a MES burning Chips or Pellets for a 10 Hour Butt Smoke! The big problem is Smoke is pervasive, it will have the Furniture, Drapes, Walls, the Dog and anything else it touches smelling like a Country Butcher Shop. Not to mention the Smoke Detectors will have to be disabled in the entire house. I don't know of a single Wife that will put up with that and I LOVE the smell of Smoke and I would hate to smell it 24/7/365...JJ

How serious is carbon monoxide from kitchen ranges? Carbon monoxide is a deadly toxin. In one study, 51 percent of kitchen ranges tested raised CO concentrations in the room above the EPA standard of 9 parts per million. Five percent had carbon monoxide levels above 200 parts per million.

 • The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey reports that active smokers at the hospital's Tobacco Dependence Clinic typically have CO levels of about 20 parts per million (ppm), but the levels can be as low as 10 ppm and as high as 50 ppm. Carbon monoxide levels this high require the heart to work overtime in order to get enough oxygen into the bloodstream. The CO levels of non-smokers and even ex-smokers shortly after quitting, typically measure between zero and two ppm.

I wish my Daddy had known you couldn't burn wood indoors.

I had to cut wood for the fireplace and a cook stove.
