Hello to all and I'm very happy to be joining this site. Like many have I lurched around this site for some time before finally signing up. I've just gotten a Masterbuilt and I'm planning my first smoke this weekend. I was thinking of going with ribs, relatively easy for the first time. If there are some better suggestions by all means throw them my way, I'll take all the tips I can get too, I'll be posting pics of whatever it is. Once again I'm very excited to be joining the group here and I look forward to learning as much as I can, take care all!!!

to SMF!!! We're happy you found us! You've come to the right place, there's lot's of great people here who love to share and help each other out!

You might want to check out Jeff's Free 5 day E-course, it will teach you all the basics and a whole lot more: http://www.smoking-meat.com/smoking-basics-ecourse.html

Here's an almost foolproof way to smoke ribs that is very popular around here:

Also another good thing to start out with is chicken, it is inexpensive in case you do mess it up but it is very easy to smoke and doesn't take very long and can be done at higher temps. It will also give you a good chance to get to know your smoker.

If you have the time, do a dry run with your smoker, with no meat in it, this will also give you the chance to get to know it!

Thanks to all for the comments thus far. Can anyone reccommend a good rub recipe? I know Jeff's is proclaimed to be amazing, and I'm going to be using it in my arsenal, but can anyone throw any more suggestions my way. Thanks again to all for the comments!
