I built something Similar, I have a large vertical home made cooker. I took a 6" duct flange and cut it with tin snips to create tabs I could lock onto my fire box. Attached this a piece of the silver foil type dryer vent. on the other end I connected a $10 plastic bathroom fan and ran the power through a dimmer switch. using the dimmer to control the fan speed, holds temp very well. wish I could find an inline thermostat to plug the unit into.
