I can't wait to see this thing finished! You might as well just invite the local fire dept. over for the first smoke, cause somebodys gonna see the smoke and think a house is burning.... lol.

That was pretty funny JIRodriguez !

Probably true.

This coming weekend is a long weekend and the weather is supposed to be beautiful.

I'm working as fast as I can to try and get my first smoke going ASAP.

Drip pan on firewall inside smoker.

Firebox damper with removable pipe burner.

When not using the pipe burner. I simply unscrew it from the damper. Too easy !

Damper installed on the firedoor. Push in to seal the firebox. Pull out to adjust the draft.

Pipe burner in position.

Bad to the bone dude ! That is a lot of work you've done , and it's looking awesome . Can't wait to see this thing in action .

Probably one of the best set ups I've seen ...
I'm a welder , so I know those lil welds are tedious and time consuming , and aggravating . But you are breezing through them , congrats !

Burner testing.

Temperature at meat level reached 175 degrees in about 10 minutes and stayed there.

I think I might have to drill more air holes for the venturi, turning up the gas gives me a yellow flame. I'll have to tweek that a bit.

Lazy suzan sitting in the drip pan. I have a nice stainless steel bearing I purchased to support the lazy susan, details later once I install it.

Right now I just want to put this baby together and start a FIRE.

Closing 'er up.

Closed up.

Hey, wait a minute. where did that gap come from ? I added a 1/2 inch lip all around, there shouldn't be a gap ???

Some adjustments required obviously. And I thought it would be perfect off the bat. Bummer !

That's it for now.

I'm heading back out to light a fire in this thing and bake out any residue on the stainless.

I'm thinking there might be some meat in there in a day or two !!!

Q-VIEW !

Temperature testing. Might as well throw something on while I'm at it.

First attempt at a Fatty. Looks pretty lonely in there...

Temperature control is AWESOME ! 225-230 degrees with two sticks in the firebox. Added about 1 stick every 3/4 hour.

Rock steady temperature.

So, my test was successful let's offer the guys at work a little snack.

Here's the smoker with 18 full racks and 100 ABT's.

Before ...

After 4 hours...

Think how cool a contraption like a "ribolator" would be in this... i picture a carousel with forward and reverse buttons that would bring the food to you and keep it rotating top to bottom!
