I found a good local tree service place to score some firewood.  Filled my trunk with oak and pecan.  The oak was good and dry, but the pecan was a bit moist.  The guy selling me the wood told me that the smokehouses he sells the pecan to prefer the pecan a bit moist, because if its not, it just burns up too quickly.

Is this true or was this guy....just blowing smoke?  Har har har.  Thanks.

Pecan , like other Hickorys should be just a little bit heavier than the stick looks , splitting cures quicker and exposes more wood fibers and thus burns quicker. However, careful as Creosote can develope if the Smoker doesn't draw well.

Now, if you are worried about that Pecan , send it to me, I'll gladly check it for you...
