Hey folks, I've been smoking um a storm on my TMLE, and after some simple mods, it's worked pretty well.  However, one constant pain in my rear is the firebox damper.  It's awkward, at best.  I am throwing on a washer on the outside to make it spin a little easier, but the whole thing seems a little cheap and leaky.  Has anyone come up with a mod for this?  Something a little more substantial than a screw and a plate of stamped sheet metal?

I haven't found anything yet - but if you do please post it!

I've been calking and sealing leaks in the firebox since construction. Got them mostly sealed up, but the Ash Drawer is probably the biggest leak.

I saw a reverse flow build with a sliding damper that was intriguing. Perhaps I can cut the cavity completely out, install a couple of small angle irons for slides, and slide a piece of steel bar with a handle as a damper, with some expanded metal as a catch screen.
