Im smoking a brisket and curious if anyone knows would it be better to use oak for my heat over charcoal? I will be using apple wood chips for the smoking...Thanks ahead of time im new at smoking but so far have done a pork loin that turned out outstanding

Hello JN. Oak is pretty darn good with apple or cherry for a brisket. Keep in mind, low and slow. Figure about 1.5-2 hrs per pound of meat but internal temperature is the ultimate goal.

Would you mind swinging by Roll Call and introducing yourself so we can give you a proper SMF Welcome, and updating your profile to include a location? It helps when answering questions to know where you are.

Thanks!

I did a pork loin recently with nothing but mesquite and had a few complaints about being a little too smoky( yeah i know i dont believe such a thing haha) so with oak as my heat and apple wood for my flavor you think im on the right track
