I have an opportunity to purchase this smoker brand new still in the box for $200.00 It has the 1200 watt element, black body stainless door with window. What do you guys here on the forum think? I have read the price quotes for Sam's, I am not a member.

I would like advice. Thanks in advance. Lenny

I'd jump on it...but if you don't want to, let me know I'll have my son buy it!

BUY IT!

My MES 40 is 6 yr old, I got it from Sam's club, it was $270 plus shipping.  Your getting a newer never used smoker, ask if full warranty is part of the deal, if it is a Sam's deal, ask to buy 2 year extended warranty for $30 or $15 for one year.

OK First I will season it with Pam. I have Todd's AMNPS already and pellets. I have seasoned it and used in my other smoker. My question is do I need to do any mods to this? The larger chip pan doesn't interest me as I will use the amnps only. I realize I have to

adjust air intake to smoker. I was concerned as whether I needed physical mods performed. Thanks in advance. Lenny

I place a short piece of pipe on top of the exhaust opening to act as a chimney. I believe this helps with the air flow through the smoker (helping the AMNPS smoke well) and keeps the smoke from blowing directly acrosse the top of the smoker (keeping things that are sitting on top of the smoker from getting greased up over time). Just what I do....
