Hi all, new to smoking never done it before, bought a Masterbuilt 40 and a AMNPS, just put it together last night, ran into a couple of problems, one of the grate supports was build upside down, but still works. (in another post)

Then went to season the smoker but no power, checked the plug had power there, but no display, so I took the plate off the bottom to check for something noticeable, checked power going to transformer with a multimeter, everything looked ok, as I was plug the smoker in i could hear a beep, so put everything  back together, plugged it in and it works, so I hope it keeps working without any issues. So I seasoned the smoker last night, and bought a 8LB beef brisket to smoke on the weekend,  not sure if a brisket is the best thing to do for a first timer like me, but will give it a shot.

Well for me, I live in Alberta Canada, with a wife and two kids. I am sure glad i found this web site, i cant believe the amount of information here.

Thanks Ron.

Hi Ron. Glad to have you with us! Jumping in the deep end with a brisket? Well between the hardware you have and the knowledge available here, it should turn out great. Let's see some Q-view!

Hi Ron,

Lots of info here for sure. I just found the forum about a week or so ago and have had a hard time tearing myself away from it. Where in AB are you? I'm in Calgary.
