For anyone using a Kamado style cooker...

What is your preferred method for cleaning the grates after cooking?

Also, what would you recommend to clean a grate that has alot of buildup on it?
I have been firing the grill up to about 700 degrees and letting it cook off most of the stuff and then taking a wire brush to it, but i would really like a way to get back to a "new" look on the grate if possible.

Any tips?

Go to a farm supply and get a wash tub big enough to hold the grates, lay them in it and spray off the heaviest buildup, empty, then cover grates with clean water and a little Dawn[emoji]174[/emoji] dish detergent and let soak for several hours or overnight - good as new!
