After much thought I decided to go with a reverse flow. Before I get into pics and details I would like to thank Spankerchief..DaveOmak..and Fourthwind.Without the advice from them I would probably have a smoker that worked poorley.

So I started with this

Sorry to get everyones hopes up...I have to find out where the rest of the pictures are at.To many caneras..lol

I found my pics I was looking for..started removing the paint. I think at this point I thought the grinder was permanently fused to my hands

Then

Put the trailer together and loaded up the tank to take it to the local welder. He has a plasma cutter..I dont..so,knowing my limitations,I took it to him.

Then we started the build.

I wish I would have taken into consideration the metal  thickness when cutting out the firebox pieces. It would have saved alot of "quality" time spent on making it right

Starting to make progress..slow going but trying to make it right....then the door decides to warp alittle...grrr

guess I will have to make some sort of seal...unless the latches I have will put enough pressure on the door to close it tightly.. OH YEAH..The three holes..I think I will weld pieces of 1 inch pipe to them. Then build a warming/cooking box on top of the firebox.I will either use ball valves or regular screw on caps to regulate airflow into warmer

Nice work so far, keep the pictures coming......As far as the door warping, I have seen others heat it up once it is complete and it warped back in place.... or using a chain binder and heat the door itself and bend it back the other direction.... or I have seen people weld another piece of flat bar on the inside to create a seal.....Just a couple thoughts...Keep up the good work!!!!

Looking good so far. I warped the door on mine to. I used a turnbuckle, some chain, and a block of wood. Got it real close. My latches pull it down on my seal real good.

Will be looking forward to seeing more progress on this.

So I have done a little more work to it.Almost have the firebox done..ran out of metal. So I decided to do some more grinding.....really think my wife is starting to think I have a thing for the grinder..lol

Jo, evening....   My buddies, who weld for a living, look at my welds and grinding..... All they can say, "A good welder never uses a grinder, Dave can I have another beer?"....

Great friends..... cold beer.... good Q......   ain't nothin' better....

Looks like a great build going!

Also looks like you've got a HF trailer for your base.  I used one for a trailer to pull behind my motorcycle.  I lengthened the tongue to make it pull better and haven't had any other problems except with getting the lights to work properly!

I put all L E D lights on it that I bought on sale at HF.  I pulled it out to Wyoming from NC as soon as it was finished.  On the way back I started having problems with the lights.  They would blink while going down the road.  I thought it was a ground problem, so I checked my ground connections and I had actually already ran a seperate wire for ground. ( Not just relying on the hitch ball for ground.)

Kept having problems with them blinking.  Finally, one of the guys at work suggested that I weld all of the joints on the trailer, since it was bolted together.  I pulled out the MIG and turned the trailer upside down and went to work.

Problem solved, no more blinking lights.  It's hard to get and keep a good ground with a bolt together trailer.

Keep the pictures coming!

Thanks to all for the tips and advice...

I don't think I will worry to much about the door right now.I can put a little bit of pressure on it and it seals OK.As for the firebox door..HUD i weld a bar along the inside of the door..to keep it from warping?

The harbor freight trailer..yes I had planned on welding the joints (thank you for mentioning it tho). Then  adding some LED lights..just cause they are cool.

The diffuser plate/water tray...does it need to be angled or flat? I was going for flat..when it comes time to drain I will just raise the nose of the trailer.Would that work?

Hope to have more pics this weekend!!

Things are going slow but sure.
