Well.....I finally broke down and bought one

My brand spank'n new MES40 showed up yesterday. After putting it together I hauled it up to my deck and plugged it in to burn it in. I set the temp to 275 and my ET732 was registered 290. I believe in my ET, so I kinda figure my MES gets hotter than it's suppose to get. There's gonna be a learning curve here.

As a side note for you folks that don't have a shed to store you MES 40 in. I use the big plastic construction bags in my woodworking shop, for saw dust, and rain was predicted last nite........so I put a bag over it. The bag fits like a glove....and cheap at walmart.

My MES30 reads 15 degrees hotter than my ET-732. When I started trusting the ET-732 I got better results.

I always trust my Maverick et 73 also....I try to put the chamber probe on the same grate as my meat so i get a accurate reading of the temperature the meat is exposed to. I also boil test my probes for accuracy each month to make sure they are reading true.icon14.gif

Fire in the hole, congrats on your new MES 40, and welcome to the MES owners club.

Good idea & tip about the construction garbage bag, thanks for sharing it.

SMOKE-ON  Dude!
