Hi everybody,
My name is Hans but everybody call me Hank or Hankki. I live on the westcoast of Finland where most people speak swedish, but I also speak finnish.
I work as a service engineer at a company that makes sheet handling machines for japanese Amada punching and laser machines. I visited schaumburg, IL last summer where Amada have a solution center. This year in january I visited schaumburg again and also Topeka, KS where I had some great pulled pork at the blind tiger. Last month I spent a week in Houston, TX where I had my share of smoked/grilled meat.
I don't have so much experience from smoking but I hope to find some meat this summer so I can try to make pulled pork and brisket. The large meat industry makes ground meat from most of the "best" parts.
I made ribs in my gas grill two years ago, one burner on low and the ribs in the other side. The grill was about 225-250 degrees and it took 4-5 h.
I recently bought a weber 22 inch and is looking forward to this summer. I am also planning a grill house in my backyard with a smoker made out of bricks, I took two evening classes in brick laying so I can build my own smoker and maybe also the 44 inch forno bravo pizza oven.
Other interests are photography, cars ( had a 69 Dodge coronet 500 conv but sold it to finance my growing photo interest and some home improvment )
Last but certainly not least I am married since 6 years, no kids but a really nice cat.

Howdy Hank! (from Texas)

Welcome to SMF!

I hope that while you were in Houston you had lots of barbecue.  There's a place called Goode's Company that you might remember if you went there!

Good luck with the smokehouse and oven.  We like pics.

And, don't wait too long for the offspring.  We were married 22 years before God blessed us with a daughter.  She is the light of our life even after 25+ years.

Best Regards

Welcome Hans!!!!!!!                Lots of good info. on here, keep reading and asking questions and you will be smokin like a pro in no time!!!

Also I have a little finnish blood in me, my grandfather came over here when he was a kid. Anyway  good luck and good smokin

Thank you all for the warm welcome!!

I will post pictures when I get started on my project, this spring is quite cold so we are still around 35 deg F here.

My old bad addiction of smoking I got rid of 5-6 years ago but this new one is hopefully not as harmful :-)

Rookiesmoker18 - Do you know from what part of Finland your grandfather came from? A lot of people from around where I live left for the US in late 1800 and early to mid 1900.

Hank
