New mwmber,,4/15/2012; Just retired,not much to do at age 76. Not to old to learn. I have a gas smoker, a BBQsmoking book, will start my first smoking next week. Not sure what to smoke. I'm going to have fun with it. My loication is Ona, West Virginia.

Congrats on your retirement! You're absolutely right, a person is never too old to learn something new. How about smoking some ribs for your first time? They're not that hard to make and taste real good. Whatever you decide to smoke, have fun and enjoy. Welcome to SMF!

...As far as your first smoke, yes ribs are really good. Chicken is inexpensive to buy, easy to prep and hard to mess us on the smoker. You can brine it first then smoke it.

Just go to the search and type in chicken brine...Here, I'll do it for ya...Link below..!
