A month ago i decided my Char Griller was toast, 3 years and done. So I started looking around seeing whats out there..My wife works in a Shop that makes machines for dairy and resturaunts.. She always tells me she's a good Tig Welder, So a lightbulb went off..I drew up some plans using the pit calculator and presented these to her, Of course she was eager to do this for me, especially since we didn't have the $1500-$2000 to buy the ones i liked..so she roped a friend of ours who works with her into helping and away they went..I will show what i have so far.
The cook Chamber is 24"x40" it started as a flat sheet of 1/8" steel (I wanted 3/16" but couldn't get it..) here it is rolled.and end caps fresh off the water jet attached
Working on the fire box
Attaching the two pieces
Setting it on the frame and welding that up
and ta-Da!!
Door cut in..
Now it comes home..I get to play a little..:) first was baffle
And some cooking grates
Added a pot warmer and a fitted charcoal chimney station
A wood warmer/storage box was added today
A stainless steel work shelf and a second cooking grate was also added today
I wanted to put some of my custom wood work to use so I used some Ash wood and Turned all the handles..The cook door Handle is Lazer engraved " Divine Smokers by J&S" Through this whole thing the three of us have been joking around about building and seeing if we could sell one or two..so thats where the Name came up.
I added a water tight conduit fitting to run my temp probes through and I Just have to add the front work shelf which I want to make to collapse then brush it up and paint it..
Our first Smoker build was fun, I cant wait to try it. Im sure I will find little mistakes, or things i would do different...but hey, thats just an excuse to do it again :) Hope you like it, I went from 500square inches of cook space to 1392...Man I hope this thing works better than my cheap char griller.
Next pics will be of it painted..
Thanks for looking
Jason
