A month ago i decided my Char Griller was toast, 3 years and done. So I started looking around seeing whats out there..My wife works in a Shop that makes machines for dairy and resturaunts.. She always tells me she's a good Tig Welder, So a lightbulb went off..I drew up some plans using the pit calculator and presented these to her, Of course she was eager to do this for me,  especially since we didn't have the $1500-$2000 to buy the ones i liked..so she roped a friend of ours who works with her into helping and away they went..I will show what i have so far.

The cook Chamber is 24"x40" it started as a flat sheet of 1/8" steel (I wanted 3/16" but couldn't get it..) here it is rolled.and end caps fresh off the water jet attached

I wanted to put some of my custom wood work to use so I used some Ash wood and Turned all the handles..The cook door Handle is Lazer engraved " Divine Smokers by J&S"  Through this whole thing the three of us have been joking around about building and seeing if we could sell one or two..so thats where the Name came up.

I added a water tight conduit fitting to run my temp probes through and I Just have to add the front work shelf which I want to make to collapse then brush it up and paint it..

Our first Smoker build was fun, I cant wait to try it. Im sure I will find little mistakes, or things i would do different...but hey, thats just an excuse to do it again :)  Hope you like it, I went from 500square inches of cook space to 1392...Man I hope this thing works better than my cheap char griller.

Next pics will be of it painted..

Thanks for looking

Jason

Very nice, you and your wife have done some nice work right there... looking forward to seeing it painted up and hearing how the first few cooks go off of it!

Wait wait your wife can weld??? Want to do a wife swap? Mine can cook for you, while your wife works on my smoker?

Can she weld stainless steel??

Be careful with the wood warmer it can get too hot and start smoking. The minute you open the door it will flame up. Sam principle as a wood chip box.

Ha Ha..never would of thought building a smoker would lead to a proposition like this :)   and She Tig welds stainless about 98% of her work time, actually she just said  all the time.. I am no welder but she brought me some pieces where she "finished" them..man you couldn't see were a weld was, it looked like one piece.

the wood warmer is not air tight, and the door just slides out, so i will watch the heat and might just leave the door off. but thats good to know, thanks.

Thanks for the good words, i completely finished it tonight, now just trying to talk my wife in to taking this thing back to her work and bead blast this, sure would be better and faster than a wire brush.. maybe I'll just have to dare her that she can't do it...lol!

Thanks for looking and making me feel good about my new Smoker..I got it done today, tomorrow weather permitting i will season it... This has been a fun project, thanks to my wife and our good friend Jimmy, who helped my wife do the fab work and showed her how to do custom work..

probably the most rewarding thing we have built together..let me know what you think?  I have a person or 2 that are asking how much to build them one now..ha ha,..maybe a new side job has been born.... So here She is..
