pork ribs

Smoked some pork ribs today in the electric smoker. T he meat was tender but the outside of the meat was tuff and a little dry, sprayed apple juice on them as well. What could cause this to help

What temp did you smoke at and for how long? Did you foil them?

smoked between 225-250 did not foil maybe next time i will
