That's a good price! Best price around here this week is Tom Thumb at $1.87/lb. I asked my family (wife and two sons) for a pork butt from each for my birthday present so I can afford to make Italian and Breakfast sausages - been out for a couple weeks and still waiting on disability check, lol! My mouth is already watering for some country style patties! (lo-salt, of course!).
That's not too bad. I don't know if we'll see .89 a pound again like last year at Piggly Wiggly. I think the last ones I bought were $1.39. Maybe I should go get a couple to make some more pulled pork. Last time I canned what we didn't eat right away. I love it canned! No worry about freezer burn or finding room in the freezer!
Food Lion had them last week for 1.23. Great price, but they are packed on some kind of solution. I won't use it. I get all my butts from Ingles. Pure pork, untrimmed. Best meat in this area. I usually buy by the case. Closest Sams or Costco is about an hour away.
The ones they had up here are. They have a salt solution in them too. To me pork doesn't need anymore salt then what in a rub. They may have something different in your area though.
Not a problem Ted. I agree with that. Wife is in Boone I may give her a call to see what Harris Teeter has. Thanks for the info. Best Ingles can do is 1.69 on sale.
I have used smithfield before, they are good. Ones I seen here were cryovaced with the food lion name on them. I don't shop at food lion. Just something about the place I don't like. I seen it in the paper and just went to see what they had.
