Desperate for HELP

I just finished building a new smoker,made the frame out of treated wood and covered the inside with 1/4" underlay after insulating the walls & ceiling with 1" foam insulation.I then covered the outside with cedar siding,including the pitch roof.My question is this,out of 100% of the treated wood used 90% is either covered with 1/4" underlay (inside) and aluminum over doors (outside & inside) with aluminum over front of door frames.Of the 10% or less that is not covered inside is this safe to use in regards to the chemicals in treated wood or do I need to #1 cover all exposed treated wood,or #2 tear it apart and start all over.PLEASE HELP ME,ANYBODY AND EVERYBODY.

Treated wood is not good form what I've read. I would say 100% cover, someone will be along with the definite answer shorty I'm sure.

Treated wood used to contain "Arsenic", a know carcinogen, and poison.

It took a few years for our Government to finally make it illegal for manufacturers to use Arsenic in their processing.


Personally, I would not use treated lumber, but covering 100% of it may just make it safe for a smokehouse.


Even though Arsenic is no longer allowed, who know what other nasty chemicals are used in the process!??!?!!?

I wouldn't use treated lumber in a smoker either. There are all kind of bad chemicals in it to keep it from rotting and bugs eating it.


Like the others said if it was covered maybe it is ok, but I would not take that chance. If you burn treated wood you can get sick from breathing the smoke.

The environmental doctor in me is screaming.


It is my understanding that there are some pressure treated woods that only use a copper salt, and this may be ok, but if you have anything else caution.


I would at a minimum cover it with overlay (is this 1/4 inch luan?). 


Personally, if it were mine, it would not have any pressure treated would in any area that could out-gas into the smoking chamber.  That would include coming thru any corners/edges that are not actually sealed.

Personally I would not use pressure treated arround food.... period. If you want an example of what you might taste on your food take a 2" square of pressure treaded lumber put it in a 250° oven with an oven safe glass bowl over top of it. After about 2 or 3 hrs. take the bowl off and smell it - anything that off-gassed into that bowl would be off-gassing into your food in the smoker.
