Hey, everyone. My offline name is Lew. I current reside just outside of Gobles (the natives insist that all transplants provide the following disclaimer.... you pronounce it Gobells, not the sound a turkey makes just before I squeeze the trigger). Here's a little 'bout myself.... 24 year veteran, US Army, retired, but still working, this April 20th will my 38th anniversary (yeah Honey, I still remember). I'm an incurable non-conformist and am always looking for a new challenge. My favorite activities are, in order of importance, hunting, fishing, cooking (did I mention that I likes challenges?) and baking (nothing done the easy way). I've following SMF and using Jeff's recipes for 6+ years. I'm still not a full-fledged smokee, IMO, my smoker is a Smokey Mountain Gas, upright with three racks. Even though I live in Michigan, I grill and smoke all year round, it can be done, you just have to be inventive. OK, that's quite enough, going up north in a week or so, the steelhead will be running. Smoke On!

welcome . Do you ever go to Jan's trailside cafe ? My friends Bud and Virgil (the Mattawan barber ) go up there once a week . I think that's where Virgil said they're going now . Bud lives in Gobles and he's about 95 years old but still gets around pretty good . I'm right in between Mattawan and Paw Paw . I used to go to Alloy steel treating about every other night for about 20 years until our mold making business closed down . I'd usually then head over to TJ's pourhouse . You'll like this forum . I have a MES in my garage and I use it year round also . You can pick up a lot of info on here and a lot of helpful fellow smokers .
