Long time smoker residing in Cypress, Tx., 30 miles from downtown Houston. When I'm not enjoying our great outdoor weather sitting by my smoker, I work full time as a real estate agent.

My smoker is a custom built, six rack, tower, with a side mounted fire box. Smoke and heat is controlled by a flu-like, baffle and plenty of vents. I can, and have, smoked up to 8, large briskets at a time, but not in a long time. Too much work. Matter of fact, I'm looking to invest in a smaller, electric smoker.

On March 14th will celebrate 40 years of marriage. I tell everyone it's been the best 10 years of my life.

Looking forward to enjoying the forum.

Now, you need to send us some Q-view of your equip. and the things you cook . Let is know how the Watt Burner works and which you like better.

I am a dedicated Wood burner and hope you don't lose your Love for truly 'smoked' food  with wood , even though the Elect. Smoker is set and forget easy... I prefer and absolutly enjoy the attention you have to give a wood burner...and the Company of friends sitting around BS'n and having fun.

Have fun , keep the TBS rolling and by all means......

to SMF. You have come to the right place for smoking info. This site is loaded with great info just use the search bar at top of page to find what you are looking for. If you can't locate the answer just ask folks here are willing to share there knowledge.

Welcome fellow Texan. I too was a long time stick burner until I bought a MES 40 last year due to the burn ban.

I admit to missing the long hours tending the fire, but the MES certainly makes smoking easier.

Someone recently posted that Sam's had the MES 40 on sale for about $300.

You also better brush up on your close-up photography skills--this group loves to see the latest smoke.

Welcome To Your New Addiction

Welcome aboard from TEXAS as well, glad to have ya, and look forward to seeing some of your work. Congrads to you and the wife. "UP IN SMOKE"

Wow!  A big Texas "HOWDY" to all you guys that have dropped by and said, "Welcome".  This is going to be one enjoyable forum.  Loaded a photo of my smoker sitting on the deck, across from my Weber grill.

Would like to light 'er up this weekend but I don't believe the weather man will be cooperating all that well.   Right now, it's cold and raining and not very good weather for March, here in Texas.   That's one reason I'm investigating a smaller, electric, and based upon what I'm seeing here in the Forum,  looks like an MES 40 will be the choicel  However, I will be keeping the old wood burner.  Can't do without the all day  smell of Texas hickory or mequite, which goes well with a Texas beer, made, just up the road a piece, in Shiner, Texas.

Cypress that is just a short trip down FM 1960.  Welcome aboard from you neighbor.

You got that right, nothing better than a frosty mug of Shiner!  Older son has a kegerator full of it!

Welcome to the forum and would love to see a Qview of that giant stickburner!  This weekend is great for getting ready for the week, supposed to return back to mostly nice weather then!  Just up the road from you in Fort Worth, and both boys live in Arlington.

Enjoy the forum, lots to learn, see and do, and we're here to help every step of the way, and don't hesitate to ask questions!
