im planning on trying venison bacon for the first time but have a question. everyone talks about curlys bacon seasoning. is there any way to get around using this (do i have to) or is there something i can use right out of the spice rack that would essentially be the same thing?

You could try this to start.

2lbs venison

2lbs pork

3Tblsp coarse salt

1\2 cup brown sugar

1 Tablsp Gelatin

1 tsp Cure #1

1 cup ice water.

This recipe is not from scratch but is a preblended seasoning.  I  tried it this Winter and really liked it. These guys do online sales and are great to work with.
