Hi There!

Thread Starter

I stumbled across this forum searching for tips and such on building a smoker.

I've got several years experience using a pits and spits offset smoker that belongs to a friend when I need something large and my modified chargriller for backyard stuff with great success. I am going to build a smoker for a friend who wants something larger using a 175-200 gallon fuel oil tank.

I live in southwest Idaho and besides cooking I enjoy brewing beer (and drinking it) snowmobiling and working in my shop restoring antique Heaters/stoves. By profession I am  blind guy with 20 years in window coverings and shade products, specializing in motorization.

Please be really careful cutting into a tank like that.  Folks have got themselves hurt when vapors ignite.  Some cut them only while filled with water.  Make sure you read up on the safety issues for your project.
