Hello! I'm Jake, a newbie in the Central Florida area.
New years night a friend of mine invited us all over for festivities, and I suggested we try smoking a boston butt since he had (what I thought was) a smoker. We did a Carolina style mustard rub and mop, and the results were, well.....addictive!!
So I just purchased my first real smoking device. NO not one of those smoking devices!!!
I hit up craigslist and found a cheap deal on a used Cabela's Deluxe Electric Smoker. Here's a link to the one I bought:

The first night we smoked some bacon wrapped jalapenos that we just happened to have left over from the big game, and some leg quarters to try it out. The results were once again....addictive!
Since then I've bought a smoking recipe book to add to my cook book collection, and joined this site! Just wanted to say hello, and give ya a little background on my smoking history. I've grilled my whole life, learning from my Dad. I have only used Webers and some electric grills in my life, doing some basic indirect grilling/smoking on ribs and salmon, etc. Looking forward learning the ropes (hopefully) with my cheap purchase, and when the time comes I'd like to go get a wood burning setup! Hope everyone is having a great one! -Jake
