I've done pork loin, ribs, chicken, turkey, beef roasts, ABT's, bacon, and sausage but have never attempted a butt.... I normally use a Chargriller Smokin Pro to do all my smoking, but I also have a propane smoker I use when temps are low outside or when I have overflow on my Chargriller. So anyway I had a couple Boston Butt's in my freezer from our hog we bought last fall... So I decided to smoke them for a family get together we where having for my daughters' birthdays Saturday.  Thawed them out Thursday and the plan was to smoke them late Friday and foil and leave them on the propane smoker over night in foil until morning.  Well started my smoke about 9pm and then about 11pm I started having heat issues on the propane smoker.  Went and got a new propane tank to try it out and that didn't fix it. So about 11:30-11:45 I lost all fire in the smoker.  Either the regulator or the valve on the smoker failed... So I took them inside and fired up the oven @ 225, put them on a cookie sheet and left them in there un foiled for about an hour.  All the while I'm spritzing with apple juice every half hour or so on the smoker and in the oven.  Then when internal temps hit about 145 I foiled with apple juice and cooked till about 11am the next day when they finally hit 200.  Took them out and let them rest for an hour or so then opened up and pulled... VERY tender! and juicy!  Used a finishing sauce I found on here with Cider Vinegar, Tony's, red pepper flakes etc... WAS AWESEOME! Everyone loved it!  Would have liked to have it on the smoke longer but it turned out ok despite the smoker failure...

Here's the Q view....

The PP looks great!

I just replaced the regulator on my gas grill last week, Home Depot sells them.

Looks good!  Nice recovery!

Did my first "pastrami?" when the power went out with a corned beef in the crock pot.  Fired up the smoker and have been making pastrami ever since.

Good luck and good smoking.
