New to Smoking

Thread Starter

So on newyears eve the party I was at was serving various smoked meats from ribs, chicken and brisket. All of it was awesome. I am big in cooking on the grill even in the winter several times a week but the smoked meat brought a whole new taste I want to explore more. I purchased a Smoker off of craigslist that was still brand new in the box and still needs to be seasoned. I want to start with the least difficult meat to smoke and work my way up. I really want to do ribs as I don't do well with them under direct heat. Any suggestions on what meat to start with?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Jason

Welcome to SMF.

You will probably get a wide range of suggestions on what to start off with...my suggestion is jump in and smoke whatever you are hungry for that particular day

Is your smoker propane, charcoal/wood or electric?

Pulled pork is probably the most forgiving. For ribs i suggest doing the 3-2-1 method
