If things go right I might be smoking some sausage for a get together on Sunday. I was wondering if anyone else was doing something similar?

I just finished an all night pastrami smoke. I'm taking a break for New Year's Eve.

I plan on throwing a ribeye steak on the kettle. Something nice & easy. Then maybe ribs New Years Day.

It certainly could be. I am just finishing up my shopping list for making sausage later today and will be smoking them tomorrow.

I also just finished an almost all nighter maybe till about 4:00am. Finishing some sausages that I did over the last couple days. I'll be posting this time for all you folks to enjoy.

It looks like we will be doing that this year in collaboration with some friends. They're holding the traditional New Years party until 2 am and then we're starting the BBQ cook off with a planned finish on the evening of the 1st. The pork shoulders, chickens and ribs are in the fridge waiting for prime time. This will be a first for all involved so here's hoping it goes well.

Ill be sleeping over night this year.

Morning folks and Happy New Year.

Things finally slowed down for us about 4 am and I have to admit I grabbed a couple of hours sleep before loading the pork shoulder into the MES for tonight. Not sure how many of the folks will stick around for that. Lot's of snoring going on here LOL.

I might be tomorrow night. I just heard that Butts were on sale for 1.37lb at Mac`s Market so will be taking a trip here in a little while...

Well I had plans on smoking on the eve, but opened the long neglected smoker the other day only to find some green stuff that had grow since I last used it. I scrapped it out good and lit up 2 small bags of charcoal and a bunch of wood to finish the cleaning process. Do ya think it got hot enough to sterilize it?

Got two racks of spare ribs and a small store bought ham to do up tomorrow. I hope smoking in 2012 is better then 2011 cause My smoker didn't see much action last year.

Happy New Year. To all my SMF friends

You might want to add new batteries to the new years resolution list Dan.

My second smoke was several racks of baby back ribs.  The rub was too salty and (thanks to the forum) cut it with some brown sugar and other spices.  Bottom line it turned out GREAT...Children were impressed dad could produce such a good dinner.

Son's girlfriend was invited over for dinner tomorrow so I've been asked for a repeat (no pressure).

Any ideas on a Carolina rub??

Happy New Year to all on SMF!!!!
