Smoker Noobie in KC

Thread Starter

Hello everyone!

I am "KCsmokinDad" but you can call me Brian. I live in Overland Park, KS a suburb in the BBQ capital - Kansas City. I am a business systems analyst for a major financial company, I have five kids and have been happily married for 21 years.

My wife bought me a Brinkmann Barrel Smoker for Christmas and I am looking forward to learning more about the art and techniques of smoking meats.

I know its not one of the high-end smokers but I wanted something I could learn with and build my skills on without breaking the bank. My wife did the reseach and Home Depot suggested this smoker.

I look foward to learning more and getting to know everyone.

Thanks!

-Brian

Welcome Brian.  Be sure to check out the 5-day smoking course offered on this forum, it's a great way to understand the basics for smoking. I did it when I joined and it was a great start.

First off welcome to SMF there Brian. You'll really like this place for there are a bunch of really good folks here that would just love to help you with just about anything to do with smoking meat. Then if you have any questions you just post them here or yu can try in chat for a faster answer. If you are really new to all of this I would recommend that you look up and take the e-course.
