DSC03513.JPGHi there, 1st post. My son gave me a Mastercraft gas smoker for Christmas last year.Befor I smoked anything I found this site and soon became intimidated by all the information involved with smoking meat, so I figured I would just jump in and get to it. My first smoke I wanted to do something easy, but what to do, found everyone talk about a "fatty" I thought " what the hell is a fatty". I followed the instructions on this site and the family went nutz for the fattys. Next I tried a Boston Butt, it turned out well but, long story short, It cooked for 16 hrs ( temp too low, no thermometer trusted the Thermometer that is attached to the smoker, WRONG) Next go round, two butts to take to work for a Christmas dinner. Everything went extreemly well, all that partook raved about the pulled pork.DSC03509.JPG

Sorry for the screwed up pictures, but I'm sure you know the order that they were taken.

Look forward to smoking with you all.

As for smoking and cigars... right up my alley.  Hickory smoke wafting with the smoke from a good cigar... now you're talking!  Just add a good bourbon... heaven!

Are you kidding me!

I must be in the right place, Woodford Reserve is my fav!!!

Well I surely wouldn't sneeze at a few drams of Woodford Reserve, even if I am partial to Evan Williams single barrel and Bookers.  Welcome to the fray Mike!  Smokin' meat, cigars and fine bourbon....yeah, that's a combination that's pretty hard to beat!

First off welcome to SMF there Mike. You'll really like this place for there are a bunch of really good folks here that would just love to help you with just about anything to do with smoking meat. Then if you have any questions you just post them here or yu can try in chat for a faster answer. If you are really new to all of this I would recommend that you look up and take the e-course. It is free and it will also give you the basics on smoking. So with all that said now go and get something to smoke.
