I am from South Africa currently working and staying in Botswana. I am currently busy extending my patio with the idee to build an outdoor kitchen with a smoker, pizza/bread oven and a braai. Smoking is not very big around here so getting info is quite difficult. Have done a lot of research and got a lot of very nice idees from the forum, but every time I think I know what to do I read something else on the forum. Will post in smoker builds my questions.

Thanks for all the information so far, see myself visiting very often.

welcome to SMF!

First off welcome to SMF. You'll really like this place for there are a bunch of really good folks here that would just love to help you with just about anything to do with smoking meat. Then if you have any questions you just post them here or yu can try in chat for a faster answer. If you are really new to all of this I would recommend that you look up and take the e-course. It is free and it will also give you the basics on smoking. So with all that said now go and get something to smoke.

Welcome To Your New Addiction

Have been on this forum for the past 2 days, wife already not happy with me. looking forward to finishing my kitchen. Will post some pictures.

Glad to see I am not the only South Africa here, meat is very good and very cheap here in Botswana so we braai (BBQ) very often, have got a very nice gas braai for Christmas that will come in very handy during the week but nothing better than having a piece of steak on the fire. Have got a pig head and some other pieces that's just waiting for the smoker to get finished.

African meat, staying in Cape Town you must enjoy the fish and crayfish?

Welcome aboard.  Here's some sites I enjoy- wedlinydomowe.pl-It's from Poland but they have a US versions.  Lot of good info on smoking sausage, hams, loins, proper processing of large cuts of meat, etc.  You can post questions and get great info from replies.  Greeneggers.com-it's a cooker that does it all- smoke, low and slow or high heat cooking.  Check out the site and get a lot of good info, recipes, etc.  BBQU.net- good site with recipes from all over the world.

Fortunately I'm retired and have time to check all these sites out.  Have to go now as the MRS. is off and I have to look like I'm busy-LOL.
