Got a heck of a deal on some butts while looking for a new source of bellies.

1.45 a pound!! Haven't seen itt his low in a long time.

I got about 40 pounds..

Prepped with SPOG last night.

Cranked the WSM to 225 this morning with local pecan.

And here we go!!

Last night..

This morning...mmmmmmmm.

Making the finishing sauce and having a great day....

It's kind of a cleanup thing Terry..

I had two bags of almost gone charcoal...RO red and Kingsford blue.

Also several small bags of chunks and chips.

Added it all together with the local pecan.

It's looking and smelling good on the back porch today..

Gonna start some sausage making today too.

A small town indepedent grocery.

I been looking for one to get bellies from as the one I been using burnt down.

The guy in the meat dept said that butts go on sale once in awhile...not regular.

He got out the case and it was EXCEL so I got about 40 pounds. http://www.excelfreshmeats.com/index.php

They are at 195 now...put them in the oven at 245 3 hours ago...sheesh...

A $1.45 a pound

? That's right around 1/2 what we pay for pork butt, That's a steal, I'd load up as well. Congrats on the great find on cheap meat.
