My name is Andy and I live in West Des Moines, IA. I joined SMF actually a few months ago and now just getting to introduce myself on here. I am a Paramedic and been doing for about 7 years. I work a 24 on 48 off type schedule; it works out to 10 days a month. Started smoking on a Weber Performer grill last year, which worked ok for small smokes. But this fall I really got into smoking and purchased a 22.5" WSM and love it. I have learned a great deal after reading and searching techniques in these forums.

Welcome Andy.

First off welcome to SMF there Andy. You'll really like this place for there are a bunch of really good folks here that would just love to help you with just about anything to do with smoking meat. Then if you have any questions you just post them here or yu can try in chat for a faster answer. If you are really new to all of this I would recommend that you look up and take the e-course. It is free and it will also give you the basics on smoking. So with all that said now go and get something to smoke.

Welcome To Your New Addiction

I thought I knew how to cook, until I join this forum, I learn more in the few months reading the post here, than the years cooking on my own.

Welcome Andy.  I'm originally from the Knoxville/Pella area, but after serving nearly 22 years in the Air Force, I now reside near Papillion, NE.  Great to finally be close to home.  Happy smoking!
