Central Valley California
Hi all,

My name is Tony!  Some of close friends call me Tex because I lived just north of Houston for a while and to this day I still have that southern draw in my accent

I reside in California now and love it here in the Central Valley.

Believe it or not I was not actually looking for any BBQ or Smoke Meat Forums when I found this sight.  I actually stumbled upon it by accident while viewing the Huddler's web-page that powers a lot of Forums like this one :)

While viewing Huddler I saw the link to this forum and couldn't resist.

Now being a big fan of smoked and BBQ foods I figured I better get signed up here ASAP.

So now here I am, eager to learn as much as possible about smoking foods and hoping I'll be able to learn how to build my own custom made smoker some time in the near future.  I love to build my own things and share my results with high resolution images when I think others can appreciate them and or when others request them...

For now I have a Charcoal grill shaped like a 55 gallon Drum I purchased years ago at Walmart that I may end up using as part of a Franken-Smoker "I'm still not sure yet".  I also have a 4 burner 3 grill plate Char Broil Stainless gas grill that I purchased On CL for $40.00 "You might gather I'm not rich at this point".  This one gets used most of the time because it's the quickest and easiest for me.   Honestly most of the time I get decent results when I use the gas grill.  That is if you don't account for the times I've tied on one to many and forgot to turn the meat

Well enough about me for now.  I'll see you all around these parts sooner or later.

Welcome to SMF glad you can join us.  We are big on Pics and love to help everyone out.  Remember the only question that is dumb is one not asked.  You will not find a friendlier place to talk Que on the web.

You are going to fit in just fine...

Boy it sure is a small world ECTO1,  I use to live almost right smack dab in the middle of Old Town Spring.  Attended Spring Elementary to High and went to every Old Town Spring event I could like the Carnivals to Craw Fish Festivals..  Ah the good old days.  I often miss it out there at times.

Thanks for the warm welcome.

I am not from Spring Originaly but it has been home for about a decade.  I live down the street from old town spring and we go there when we get the itch for a good chicken fried steak.  Glad to have you with us.

Welcome to the SMF from another person who is not rich! There are a lot of great people here with tons of knowledge that will have you Q-ing like a pro in no time.

@ alelover I joined to do just that.

@ BIG TWIG some of the best BBQ I've ever tasted was from grassroots, backwoods poor folk ;)

Ah yeah the Wunsche Bros.Cafe.  I use to love their Chicken Fried Steak if that's the place you are talking about.
