Is it ok if i only brine my turkey for 16 hours instead of 24? I got started late and dont know if i have time for 24.

Yes the porpuse of the brine is to help in moisture retention,seasoning and helps you get through the 40*/140* zone.

I read that you're supposed to brine 1 hour per pound.  Also, I read that it's possible to overbrine. 

 

Anyone know if the truth behind this?

I brine a turkey last weekend for 12 hours.
Turn out great! !!
