Never had smoked sea salt before but it sounds great. Well, that's one more thing to put on my list of things to try....

It's a long time forgotten...past life. After reading about flavoring with smoked salt, I remember building stainless screens in wooden frames just to do salt..think the ex sold them..lol   Also remember the "don't use reactive material" clause and what happened to aluminium screen.

Been thinking of doing this myself.  We just replaced our splatter screens with some very nice ones from Costco, and when looking at the 3 old ones my wife was about to throw away, I said, I'll just put them in the garage, I'm sure I'll find a use for them.  Then 2 days later I find this thread!

after reading this post this a.m , i have salt in the smoker as we speak.

Last time I smoked peppercorns was for about 4 hours or 1 full 12" Tube

We smoked Kosher salt and peppercorns for a demo

Once ground, the peppercorns smelled fantastic!

Did u find that one held smoke flavor better than the other. My trial is one pound of sea salt and same of peppercorns. Gonna put a simple mix in some trial bottles for some guys at work. Thinking sea salt and smoked paprika with garlic n onion for them to help me experiment with.

Kosher Salt is $1.49 for 2# at Wally World

The Dollar Store usually has glass bottles for cheap

Bottle up some smoked salt and give it away as gifts
