cool I was thinking a fryer, and a nice big box for some wood with a working table for a lid

 would be handy!

Wow  First Que!

I did a few last minute things.

I insulated and skinned the firebox door and below mainly to protect the tire but also for efficiency. And the tire remained much cooler. I  held my hand on the tire and it was warm but not hot.

Got the popcorn and I'm ready to smoke. This is her maiden voyage.

I said I would smoke the thanksgiving turkey just a little late. This is Mexican style turkey - multiple ground peppers - chili powder, red chili, cracked pepper corns, Cajun,  garlic, onion and all the good stuff. Just the way we like it. I'll probably never win a contest, but it'll be out of this world tasty. if you like it spicy.

This build is about over. A few things left, always a few things left.

Thanks Bubbonehead. I am going to use the graphics. Just takes time.

I have really enjoyed this build. I recommend a back yard build to anyone who can. It's almost spiritually fulfilling when the first Que comes off a success.

Wow what an amazing adventure following your build. Congrats on a great success

It's looking good!

You could always do a smaller grill....and the turkey fryer...with a removable or hinged top that could be a prep table when you need it.

Great build. One question I have is why did you go with a single door for the smoke chamber and not a double? It seems a lot of heat would escape when you open it up to mop your vittles or spray them or whatever.
This was a particular that I thought long about. In the long run it probably should be 2 doors to reduce heat loss, but surprisingly it only took a couple of minutes to recover if I did what I needed and closed the door. Can't leave it open too long. And I do like the big door. It's about 80 inches wide. It did cause problems because of the weight, but you can get something in there.

Another thing that this forum saved me on was the size of the firebox. It's huge, but that's what's required to keep up with the heat. And I tried the Minion Method last night. One load of lump mesquite, 40 lbs., and a half dozen plum logs and I didn't have to mess with the fire for the entire smoke. It was still plenty hot when the turkey was done 5 hours later!

I want to thank everyone who helps on this site. This is a grade AAA group of smoking fanatics who are always willing to help each other as well as the newbie like myself.

Thanks hdflame. It's still up in the air in what direction I'll go. Don't tell my wife. She wants it done. You know there's always a need for a grill now and then. My problem, I don't care for small.

I had the same thought, but by simply adding two hinges, flat bar both side of the door, one inside and one out opposite of each other, you could convert it to two door fairly easily and quickly if needed……..

The storm door is open. It started raining yesterday and it's forecast for the next few days. I painted in between the drops to keep her from rusting. You can see it's already rusting where there's no paint.

That paint looks great! Adding a third color really sets it off. I had thought about trying something similar with mine and decided against it, but I really like the way yours looks!

Thanks. I did the door only, after seeing your rig. Did you weld on the graphics yet. It's going to look cool.

Gorgeous, beautiful, amazing, fantastic... um, I like it... And, since you're in Stockton, I will be over within 40 minutes as I am in Antioch, CA and always hungry for smoked meat!!!

Seriously - that is a terrific looking smoker. WELL DONE!!

Thanks Shooter. We're doing a block party on Super Bowl Sunday. Come on over.

Great job man! Another cool build here on the forum.

I just picked me up an old tombstone welder like that one too! My first welder.
