My smoker is a 20” Diam. X 36” Wide side fire box, approximately 650 pounds, and I currently have it under the patio cover.   We have a clay soil yard, and it is a beast to move.

While I am planning to add a concrete pad to allow me to move it from under cover.  We ain’t there yet.

The wife is complaining about the smoke entering the soffit vents, and some inevitably enters the house.

I wonder if I can rig a temporary vent extension, without affecting the draft.

Any ideas would be welcome.

Our smokers are just outside our screened in patio on a slab with a roof over them. We have a similar problem, in that if the wind is blowing in the right direction the whole house smells like smoke. I just put a large fan close to the smoker blowing away from the house. It works very well unless the wind is 20-25 MPH or more. I sit it on a table so it catches the smoke coming out the exhaust vent.

This is what we did and it works well for us.

It fit right over the the stack and now it drafts better than it did before. We were all complaining of all the smoke that would circle back in under the roof and back in the windows. Now we can actually have the windows open and the house doesnt fill up with smoke.

I dont know if this would be possible for you to get the stove pipe past your porches roof line to where it could blow away.

Hope it helped..sorry if it doesnt.

well what I really like about it is the fact that it isnt attached to anything so I can turn it against the wind and we dont get that back draft affect
